OVPD Teen Academy

ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (May 10, 2012) – Oro Valley students, ages 13-17, are invited to register for the next Oro Valley Police Department Teen Academy, a program to help students understand their police department. Participants will see a SWAT demo, watch a K-9 in action, process a crime scene, see a DUI demo and much more.

The Teen Academy is held in the OV Police Department Training Room and spans the course of three days:

Monday, June 25, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Tuesday, June 26, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Wednesday, June 27, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Pizza, snacks and soda will be provided. Seating is limited, so sign up today by calling Officer Jodi Stevens at 229-2900.

04-30-12 Meeting – NO UNIFORM Bowling Day

NOTE: BEFORE YOU READ ABOUT THE BOWLING DAY, PLEASE BE PREPARED TONIGHT AFTER TALKING WITH YOUR PARENTS TO DECIDE IF YOU ARE GOING ON THE COLORADO COMPETITION. IT WILL BE LIMITED TO APPROX 10-12 EXPLORERS. THE COST IS 250.00 (INCLUDES ALMOST ALL MEALS) WITH THE DATES OF JULY 8 – 12 AND TRAVEL TIME BEFORE AND AFTER THOSE DATES. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS NOW SINCE I WILL HAVE TO SEND DEPOSITS IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.

Now for the info on bowling.

We have not had a fun day in a while. We will be going bowling at Fiesta Bowling located at River/Oracle.

The cost is $12.00 per person which includes:

2 hours Bowling

Bowling Shoes

Pizza

Drink

We will meet at the police station at 4:30 pm and leave in a van to Fiesta Bowling. We will return at about 7:20pm.

Wear your street clothes and come prepared to have fun while actually getting to know the Explorers that you train with. See you there.

We need anyone who can to attend tomorrow’s event to be there. Currently there is no one signed up and this is not acceptable! If you can attend please sign up asap and be sure to be on time tomorrow. Officer Kleinberg and Sgt. Graham really need all the help they can get with this event.

For Monday’s meeting we will be practicing color guard and doing scenarios. Please be prepared to do a lot of scenarios. And as always we will be meeting at the Main Station at 5 pm.

First off we will be having a meeting at 5pm on Monday April 2nd at the Main Station. The next thing if you are going to an event you NEED to sign up online. Also April 7th is coming up soon, I would expect all Explorers to attend the BBQ. Many of the departments command staff will be in attendance including the Chief. Sgt. Graham also needs to know how many people will be showing up so she knows how much food to get. So please sign up for this event very soon, it will be a good time with lots of food.
